I complain about where we live often. I’m surrounded by friends and family, but suburbia and 9 months of winter does not suit me well. I’m a sunshine and city kind of girl.

Alas, our winter has melted away and June 1st finally brought a day of summer. Thankfully Xavier’s aversion to dirt does not apply to sand and waves. He was happy to romp and dump, flop and dig the day away. So much so, we’re headed back today. And I am for once gushing that the shores at least are only 7 minutes away.

Maybe it’s just a melancholy day, but I’ve found myself today, introspective and exhausted. Xavier asked to see pictures from Mommy’s belly and as I was scanning through photos of our babymoon in Rome, this shot struck a cord. Absent of the amazing architecture and people we encountered, this one picture somehow seems to capture the tone of our entire trip. Serene, simple, beautiful.

Or maybe I just need to get some sleep.

Xavier in front of his favorite Ankylsaurus, pointing out his more favorite Appatasaurus behind me. He insisted I shoot him in front of every. single. dino. but was so excited he couldn’t stand still. We ended up with a bunch of blurry, touristy shots but I love this one- his expression and the fact he looks superimposed in the frame.

Many more inspiring shots this a way.
